Isabel Gutierrez-Pils

Policy Advisor for the Department of Natural Resources

Isabel works as a Policy Advisor for the Department of Natural Resources.  She has a master’s in Conservation Biology and Sustainable Development from UW Madison.

Isabel first became interested in web development through a work project a few years ago.  She was provided basic training in HTML and CSS. She really enjoyed coding and began to learn on my own as a hobby and later began attending meetups.  Her first meetup was a Madison Woman in Tech meetup. Everyone was very supportive, and this encouraged her to continue learning. Now she is part of the YWeb Career Academy and working on changing careers.

She is especially interested in exploring issues related to diversity in technology careers.  She hopes to plan some events around these issues in the next year.
